Itineraries
The Journeys are complete itineraries designed to show you the best New Zealand has to offer. Each journey focuses on a particular theme or interest and between them we have covered some spectacular and iconic New Zealand touring routes.
Each Theme is applied to routes on North Island and South Island to give you choice on where to travel.

Wilderness & Nature
Oceans to Alps
New Zealand’s natural landscape, raw and dynamic, with rivers, lakes and mountains of epic proportions, is still wild, very unpopulated and refuge for a rich variety of marine and birdlife. Our journey takes you from Nelson to the Kaikoura Coast, up to Blenheim, across to the West Coast, the glaciers and coastal wilderness and through the Southern Alps to the West Coast and on to Lake Wanaka.
We recommend slow travel, if you have time, add extra nights or additional stops on this itinerary.
Wildlife Havens of the South
The far south of New Zealand has some of the most remote and wildlife-rich landscapes in the country. The Otago Peninsula is famous for marine life, penguins, seals and albatross, and for bird lovers. The drive through the Catlins with a stop at a Curio Bay to see Hectors Dolphins surfing and then to Stewart Island which is a must and will be your best chance to see kiwi in the wild. The Fiordland experiences included here are some of the best with a an overnight cruises on Doubtful Sound and a guided mountain hike. Outdoors & Active
Volcanic Heartland
This trip includes one of the North Island's beach paradises, the Coromandel, with its Hot Water Beach and distinctive rock formations as well as the dramatic volcanic centre of the North Island that is Rotorua, Lake Taupo and Tongariro National Park, and finishing beneath the conical Mount Taranaki. These regions all offer a plenitude of outdoor activities, hiking, biking, kayaking and rafting. However their volcanic landscapes are very different. In the Coromandel, White and Mayor Islands lie far out to sea, their activity a distant and occasional plume. In Rotorua sulphur is in the air and in the Tongariro National Park you get close to the active craters of Ngarahoe, Tongariro and Ruapehu. In New Plymouth and Whanganui, the volcano is ever-present as a backdrop.
We recommend slow travel, if you have time, add extra nights or additional stops on this itinerary.
