Spend the day sailing among the islands of Te Pēwhairangi, the Bay of Islands, aboard Carino NZ, our spacious 15-metre sailing catamaran. This relaxed small-group cruise combines genuine sailing, wildlife watching and time ashore on an island, with plenty of space to enjoy the day at your own pace.
Help with the sails when the wind allows, or settle back on deck while our crew share local knowledge, stories, history and wildlife observations from around the Bay. Sailing is part of the experience, and whenever conditions suit, we let the wind do the work.
Wildlife watching is an active part of the day. Our crew look for wild dolphins, little blue penguins, gannets, seabirds and other marine life as we sail. Carino Wildlife Cruises operates under a Department of Conservation marine mammal permit, with viewing guided by the behaviour of the wildlife we encounter. Sightings are never guaranteed.
Your skipper chooses a sheltered island stop to suit the wind and sea conditions, with time ashore to walk, swim, snorkel, explore the shoreline or simply relax on the beach.
Marine conservation and education are part of how we operate. Wildlife observations recorded during our cruises can contribute to a better understanding of the Bay, and a portion of every fare supports marine conservation, research and the Carino Marine Explorer Charitable Trust, helping local children learn more about the marine environment.
