A fully hosted boutique lodge on Stewart Island / Rakiura, Church Hill Lodge offers just three spacious, stand-alone suites set among native bush overlooking Halfmoon Bay.
Each private suite features a super king bed, ensuite bathroom, full glass frontage and its own deck, making the most of the bay views and surrounding birdlife.
Located just a five-minute walk from Oban, guests can enjoy the peace and privacy of the lodge while remaining close to the island’s main township. Breakfast and arrival and departure transfers are included, with the Church Hill Restaurant and additional dining experiences available on site.

The lodge has just three spacious, stand-alone suites, each surrounded by native bush and positioned to look across Halfmoon Bay. Full glass frontages capture the views and morning light, while private decks provide a peaceful place to sit with a wine or refreshment at the end of the day.
Native birdlife is part of the experience. With bush surrounding the lodge, guests can often watch and photograph birds from their suite or deck.
Church Hill is only a five-minute walk from Oban, yet its elevated bush setting provides a quiet retreat. The restaurant, gardens and parking are just metres from the suites, and lodge guests can enjoy breakfast as well as additional dining experiences prepared by the in-house chef.
Guests staying in the Foveaux Suite also have access to their own wood-fired hot tub. Set among the bush and reached directly from the suite’s deck, it looks out towards the bay. Towels and firewood are provided, with wine and platters also available to enjoy by the tub.
