We are certified as a responsible dolphin watching operator and are very conscious of the need to protect the dolphins and respect their habitat. All interaction with the dolphins depends on their behaviour. Remember our dolphins are completely wild.

We are fully licensed and authorised to view and research dolphins and marine mammals, this is your chance to learn and be inspired by our local marine wildlife.
Dolphins, penguins, gannets and seabirds are frequently sighted. The photo opportunities are spectacular!
The bay of Islands is a regionally significant area for seabirds you can help us gather information about seabird populations, while learning more about them yourself.

Every cruise is on our marine wildlife conservation catamaran, from which we collect daily wildlife data, and a percentage of every fare contributes directly to marine mammal research, protection and our charitable trust for children education in marine conservation.

All departures are subject to demand, sea and weather conditions. The weather is a big factor and we will not depart if there is a gale or severe wind warning in force, for the safety of all passengers.
There is no guarantee of dolphins. Carino operates with a Department of Conservation permit however for the protection of Dolphins and other marine mammals, interaction with them is governed by the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
